Though the game was non-competitive, the former Netherlands international Edgar Davids has expressed his delight at the attitude of Kotoko players in the match.

English legend Emile Heskey shot the World XI side ahead in the first half but Kotoko fought back and won by 5-1 after they put up a resilient fight to triumph over the retired footballers.

It was such fighting spirit that made the former Juventus man fall in love with the Kumapem lads.

The impressed Davids said after the game: “The guys who played were very lively and they gave everything out to win the game and that was really nice.

“The score line didn’t matter most in the game but they were really fighting and running for the ball and that was really good,” David said.

However, he called on the team’s technical handlers to work on their technique as he was not impressed with that.

“They had a little bit of very slow technique but they were aggressive and serious and that is good for a team,” he added.

Kotoko’s Bennet Ofori had a hat-trick on the day.

The match is part of efforts on the part of the organizers, Primeval Media and headline sponsors Vodafone to garner a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the 2016 polls.
